In a New York State of Mind

16 Jul

If you have not been paying attention closely, I am popping my NYC cherry on Sunday!  I would be remiss if I did not share what I am looking forward to in a Thursday 13.  As I mentioned yesterday, something tells me I am going to love this place because I plan on …

1.  Telling the non-English-speaking cabbie I want a real cab ride (and getting the full experience)

2.  Eating a hot dog from a cart (and living to tell about how freaking delicious it was)

3.  Taking an early morning walk through Central Park (before the drunken bums awaken and after the muggers have left for the day)

4.  Paying my respects at Ground Zero (for we will never fugheddaboudit)

5.  Visiting museums (Note the plural.  We have little culture here in Las Vegas.)

6.  Listening to live jazz (with a martini in each hand and my favorite dancing shoes on my feet)

7.  Seeing a Broadway show (perhaps Hair, Wicked, or whatever the majority deems best)

8.  Eating at authentic restaurants (possibly a Chinese one and say:  “Cartwright! Cartwright!  I yell just like that!”)

9.  Exploring and appreciating the architecture (perhaps climbing to the top of the Empire State Building and cuddling with a hairy friend)

10.  Riding on the subway (except it will be known as the “Party Train”)

11.  Channeling by inner novelist at The Algonquin Hotel (maybe encountering a spirit or two)

12.  Doing  all the expected touristy things (but looking like a real New Yorker in the process)

13.  Creating lifelong memories (with Cougars Gone Wild Perpstu, Topsurf, Citizen Janey, DivineMsA, and Zen Goddess Jen)

Start spreading the news, I’m leaving at 11:19 PM on Saturday …

Best city in the world. Period. SO glad I get to help you pop your cherry. And remember — what happens in Manhattan, stays in Manhattan. (Can’t speak for the rest of the boroughs, though)

    xoxo

Have fun while you’re here, it’s a fantastic city. Leave extra time to get anywhere along Broadway, it’s a clusterfuck now that part of it is for pedestrians only. I adore it because I’m mostly only ever a pedestrian on it, but if you’re in a tax/car/bus you might not enjoy the delay.
