Oh, yeah. It is Monday.
Today was the longest and scariest Monday in all my years as an educator. It was my first and hopefully last student involved shooting. I wish I could say that at no time were our school’s students in jeopardy or danger, but that is not true. Thankfully and unfortunately, only the one student was harmed, and it was rather serious.

Oh, Honey! Email me (mrschili AT comcast DOT net) and let’s talk…
Shit. I’m sorry. I’m glad you’re OK. This is not OK and I’m sorry.
Oy! Keep yourself safe! we’ve had a rash of these in the high schools, but middle school? I’ll watch the news tonight. Be safe tomorrow, ok? I’m thinking about you……
How awful, I’m glad that you are safe.
I am very sorry. I hope you are all right. Having danced with Columbine, I have some idea the long tentacles this kind of thing produces.
My thoughts are with you and your students.
I am so sorry. If you need to vent, feel free to send me an email. I’m so glad you’re okay, and I’ll pray for you, your students and the school.
so sorry, honey. horrible. I hope tomorrow goes better.
I’m so very sorry, too. Glad you are okay and please please take some time for yourself some how some way.
Thank you for your comments and emails. It has been a surreal week. The good news is the victim survived surgery and is now stable. The better news is there were no further incidents on today (Tuesday). The best news is several “key” district administrators complimented our entire administrative team for how promptly we responded to the crisis and how well we handled the aftermath.
Does kudos = promotion?
One can hope, right?
