I gave up the good fight yesterday afternoon and went to the closest urgent care. As I waited among 15-20 other people who were coughing, sneezing, and spewing their germs throughout the room, I could not help but think “if I wasn’t sick before, I will be now.”
It turns out that I am pretty sick after all: bronchitis, sinusitis, and a few other itises. The doctor even cautioned me to take care of myself by staying home another day or two or end up in the hospital with pneumonia. I was also prescribed a Z-pak and cough medicine with codeine.
Yes, I did take the day off today and am wondering if it would be wise to do so again tomorrow. I called in by email. I know that was selfish and lame, but I did not want to explain or to justify myself to anybody after the way I was treated on Thursday. It looks like Charlie Brown will be forced to attend the basketball game out in BFE tonight. Karma is a bitch, Chuck!
Don’t be discouraged, faithful readers. I am not going to die yet, and I hope this will be my last post about my phlegm. I am not looking forward to this lasting for approximately 20 or 30 days. If the fatigue and malaise will pass, I think I can deal with the possibility of coughing up a lung.
In the meantime, I’ll be resting on the couch, snuggled up with my pup-pup.

Holy Christ. You are so much stronger than I.
Get well dearie…
SO glad you are staying home!! REST WELL.
I’ve been thinking of switching to wordpress myself, but my geekiness only goes so far too. It’s intimidating and I’ll have to use firefox which is not my favorite browser… it crashes on my rickety laptop a LOT. Why can’t safari get their act together and give us mac users a damn tool bar?
Calling in via e-mail is the best! I sent mine at 1:08 am today. Of course I blamed everyone else in my family for my absence. Sometimes you just need a mental health day.
Feel better!!!!
Stay home… you need the rest. I am going to go sanitize my hands now. This is the fourth blog in a row I’ve read about people having bronchitis.
Feel better soon!
The Z-pack will work wonders. Quickly.
Ugh! Feel better!
Oh, dear! Feel better, pronto. Fax ‘em the doc’s report while you’re at it. Rub it in a little…
Oh and I tagged you on my blog.
Dude, I have the same thing! Only the idiot doc I saw in urgent care listened to my lungs, looked in my ears, up my nose (him: wow, you’re really stuffed up. me: no shit sherlock [as i gasp and wheeze]) and sends me away with cough syrup, nasal spray and the news that “you’ll feel better, just give it a few days”! That was two days ago. I just called my regular doc and said omg I cannot BREATHE and NOW my ear hurts too. She called in a script for amoxi and told me to take some Mucinex, too. Sigh…what’ll I do when I stop sounding like a 90 year old smoker?
