No Promo Again (TT 25)

by cajunvegan on December 20, 2007

I had a very promising interview for an assistant principal position earlier this week. However, I won’t be getting the promotion as I AM NOT A MAN, and this school has four female administrators already. I was told by the principal herself that the region superintendent gave her a directive to hire a man. Since I am feeling a little cynical, I give you ….

13 Reasons I Should Be Getting a Promotion for Christmas Regardless of my Gender

  1. I am “more than qualified.” – A direct quote in today’s interview
  2. I am ready.
  3. I deserve it.
  4. I believe that all students can learn.
  5. I have paid my dues.
  6. I am a natural leader.
  7. I am creative.
  8. I am hardworking.
  9. I am flexible.
  10. I am dependable.
  11. I am intelligent.
  12. I am dedicated to improving education.
  13. I am worthy.

Santa, I know I have been more naughty than nice this year, but I want to start 2008 in a new position more than anything else you could put under my tree this holiday season.

A friend of mine has a similar situation in her school district so I know how frustrating and unfair all this is. I’ll tell you what I tell her — hang in there for the kids. They need you so much!
Best of luck — I hope Santa brings you your wish!
    Happy TT!

How incredibly frustrating that must be. I hope Santa does in fact leave a new position under your tree despite the prophesies of gloom and doom.

Want to move out here? My kids’ principal is retiring at some point soon and we’ll have a void that needs to be filled…

Wow isn’t the school system suppose to teach us to choose based on qualifications and not gender? What a bad example they are setting. If there is any chance for you to get the job I hope you do.

This type of thing just goes on too often everywhere. It’s either one side or the other. I’m so sorry. I wonder why she told you that she was directed to hire a man? Very strange thing to tell you. Try to have a great TT. :)
