Edith Piaf … the Kid … the Little Sparrow … “the soul of Paris” … the legend and my new obsession who I recently referred to here.
Remarkable.
Mesmerizing.
Oscar-worthy.
Heart wrenching.
Tragic.
Joyous.
Melodic.
Life-changing.
Powerful writing and tantalizing performance.
I nearly was rendered speechless and reduced to literal sobs today by La Vie en Rose, the best biopic and perhaps the best foreign language film I have ever seen. I cannot summarize how powerful and moving it was. I cannot begin to write an appropriate review for this masterpiece. Besides, Roger Ebert already wrote a fantastic one. You simply have to go see it. Bring a box of Kleenex. Sob profusely with 20-30 other people no younger than 55 like me. I dropped by popcorn and spilled my drink twice while fumbling for a napkin to wipe the tears that were streaming down my face throughout the 140 minute homage.
I may never complain about my life again. This is a movie that will make you appreciate your mind, your body, your spirit, your family, and your friends.
“Non, je ne regrette rien” - “No, I regret nothing.” What an inspiring way to live your life — with no regrets.
Piaf’s performances are immortalized for all generations via YouTube.
