Celebrate the freedom to read whatever you damn well choose by reading a banned book. This weekend kicks off “Banned Books Week” sponsored by the American Library Association and several other groups celebrating the freedom to read. Check out the link to the festivities above.
To those groups, usually parents, who want books they deem offensive to be removed from schools and public libraries, get a life!
“[I]t’s not just the books under fire now that worry me. It is the books that will never be written. The books that will never be read. And all due to the fear of censorship. As always, young readers will be the real losers.” - Judy Blume (author of multiple banned books)
“Books and ideas are the most effective weapons against intolerance and ignorance.”—Lyndon Baines Johnson

I had no clue there were “challenged” books as well as banned ones. Live and learn. Can’t wait to read some of these on the top ten list!
10 of my favorite books are on the Top 100 list…woo-hoo! I think I will try to read all of the others on the list as well………
