Let’s face it. Mainstream radio in Las Vegas is credit deficient. That’s why everyday people like you and me are converting to satellite radio daily.
We have a new radio station in Las Vegas called JACK FM. Well, it is relatively new as it has been on the air at 100.5 since June 24, 2005. This station is the best thing since pb & j were combined in one jar. (BTW, I’ve got an entry about this phenomenon for another day.)
I read in the Review-Journal that this station is as close as you can get to pressing shuffle on your iPod. As the article states, it really is phenomenal. The company motto is “playing what we want.” There are no Howard Stern-wanna-be disc jockeys, weight loss gimmick commercials, and lame-listener-appreciation events and contests. In the time I have written this entry, I have heard “Right Now” by Van Halen, “Bittersweat Symphony” by the Verve, “Message in the Bottle” by the Police, “Fallen” by Alicia Keys, and a few other hits from the 70’s through today.
Today, I located the main website here. Notice the feature that allows you to listen via the audio-stream on the Internet. I’m sold. Now I can say that I do know JACK. I also know all the words to one of my favorite 80’s songs which is playing right now — “Electric Avenue” by Eddy Grant. Did you know that he is still all the rage in the U.K.?

Thanks for the kind words!
